The team at Nutter is inspired to learn how its staff and clients alike are rising to meet the needs of our communities during the extraordinary COVID-19 crisis. Nutter has a proud history of representing the families who own closely-held businesses in New England. One such company is M.S. Walker, Inc., which has pivoted its production and distribution capabilities to provide sanitizing solution at no cost to local first responders.
Founded in Boston in 1933, M.S. Walker is a fifth generation, family-owned importer, distributor, bottler, and national supplier of wine and spirits. Since its inception, M.S. Walker has created and produced a variety of spirits that are sold in stores nationwide. In 2018, the company opened its doors to a new state-of-the-art production and bottling facility in its hometown.
In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, M.S. Walker’s leaders decided to pivot their production capabilities to focus on the production of hand sanitizer. Leveraging their supply of high-proof grain alcohol and expertise in developing formulas, Walker’s team ramped up production to donate more than 100,000 bottles of sanitizing solution – free of charge – to team members, local first responders, and organizations in desperate need of hand sanitizer, which is currently hard to come by on store shelves.
An M.S. Walker spokesperson said, “As a company, M.S. Walker prides itself in the deep connections we have with our local community. From our clients – restaurants, which are suffering immensely throughout this unprecedented situation, and liquor stores – and our company’s employees, friends, and families, we feel this sense of community is essential to making it through the COVID-19 pandemic. This is what matters the most right now, and whatever our production capabilities allow us to do, we will do to play a small role in helping our community stay healthy and heal from this current life-altering event.”
