Overview
Jeffrey T. Klayman is a partner in Nutter’s Intellectual Property Department. Independent inventors, emerging companies, and multinational corporations frequently engage Jeff to handle the development and management of their patent portfolios. Drawing upon his experience as an engineer, inventor, and in-house counsel, Jeff works closely with clients to identify and obtain intellectual property protection to meet their business goals.
Jeff’s practice focuses on a wide range of intellectual property issues, including patent prosecution, patent litigation, opinion and clearance matters, preparing and filing inter partes review (IPR) petitions, and designing around third-party patents. He counsels clients in numerous areas of technology, including electrical storage and generation systems, computer hardware and software, networking, data storage and handling, and mechanical and medical devices.
Prior to joining Nutter, Jeff was a partner at a New England-based intellectual property law firm. Previously, he was an engineer at Codex Corporation and Motorola, Inc., where he worked with a broad spectrum of data communication and networking technologies and handled patent, trademark, and intellectual property matters in conjunction with product development.
A member of the Boston Patent Law Association, Jeff holds patents for his inventions in areas relating to data compression, encryption, and forward error correction applications.
