Equity and Racial Justice in the City of Boston
Print PDFA Conversation With Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Dr. Karilyn Crockett, Chief of Equity for the City of Boston
Mayor Walsh’s vision of a healthy, thriving, and innovative Boston is a city where there is equality and opportunity for all. Earlier this year, the Mayor appointed Dr. Karilyn Crockett as the City of Boston’s first Chief of Equity, a Cabinet-level position. Dr. Crockett has an extensive background in urban planning with a focus on addressing inequalities. She has been a lecturer at MIT and served previously as the City’s Director of Economic Policy and as the Director of Small Business Development.
Please join us as Mayor Walsh and Dr. Crockett discuss the City’s efforts to promote equity across all departments and to actively dismantle racism by focusing on supporting communities of color and marginalized groups. To do its work, the Office of Equity will utilize the City’s relationships and partnerships with community groups, residents, nonprofit organizations, business groups, business leaders, and other institutions to promote equitable policies and outcomes.
We hope you will join us for this important conversation.
