Nutter Partner Kenneth R. Berman Releases Reinventing Witness Preparation
Print PDFFirm to Host Official Book Launch Event on March 27, 2018
Boston – Nutter Partner Ken Berman has just released his first book, Reinventing Witness Preparation: Unlocking the Secrets to Testimonial Success. Published by the American Bar Association, this book challenges all the orthodox assumptions about how witnesses are supposed to testify and presents a compelling, in-depth analysis of why the conventional approach to witness preparation so often generates losing testimony.
In place of the conventional approach, Reinventing Witness Preparation teaches a far more thoughtful approach and showcases a paradigm shift in witness preparation methods, designed to empower witnesses to give their most effective truthful testimony.
“Ken’s book introduces a new and innovative way of thinking about and doing witness preparation,” said Ian Roffman, chair of Nutter’s Litigation Department. “Ken’s technique goes against the conventional witness preparation taught in law schools and litigation departments. Where the conventional approach cautions witnesses not to try to win their cases when the other lawyer is asking the questions, Ken teaches witnesses how to give answers that actually help their cases. His philosophy is about trying to win the case by having the witness give informative answers, always truthful, that leave no room for misleading impressions.”
“We’re very excited to add Reinventing Witness Preparation to our collection of truly outstanding books,” said Palmer G. Vance II, Chair-elect of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation. “We’re always interested in publishing well-written books that teach new and better ways for lawyers to improve their craft. Ken Berman’s book is a great example of that. It provides a real service to the profession, especially in an area that’s so critical to what litigators do and so important to clients. Ken is a terrific writer and his book is destined to become the go-to resource on witness preparation for many, many years.”
Nutter will host a celebration for Berman’s book launch on Tuesday, March 27 in the Louis Brandeis Conference Center. Hon. Judith Cowin (ret.), former Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court, will emcee the event.
