U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz and her senior staff gave an update on the Office’s priorities, what changes have been implemented, and what work is still to be done. The program also addressed questions from moderators and the audience, such as appealing charging decisions and sentencing recommendations made at the unit level, what they find effective and helpful from attorneys who advocate before them, and what do they take into consideration in exercising their discretion to prosecute and resolve cases.
