Matthew Hanaghan, a member of the firm’s Business Department and Data Security Breach and Privacy Law practice group, was a panelist at the Cape Cod Technology Council’s program “Don't Find Yourself On the Wrong Side of the Law; What You Need to Know About the New State IT Compliance Laws” on August 6. The program discussed the data security regulations that went into effect in March and define for businesses in Massachusetts a minimum standard for protecting the personal information of their customers and employees. Matt provided the legal argument for businesses and noted that right now the minimum standards in Massachusetts go further than any other state or federal standard.
