Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP announced today that Paul J. Ayoub, a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and partner in the Real Estate and Finance Department and Nutter Charitable Advisors, has been elected Chair of the National Board of Directors of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

As Chair of the ALSAC Board, Ayoub will provide oversight to ALSAC, which was founded five years before St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1957. ALSAC solely exists to raise the funds and awareness from supporters around the world to operate St. Jude, which is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

"We are so pleased that Paul Ayoub has assumed the role of Chair of our Board,” said Marlo Thomas, daughter of the late entertainer Danny Thomas, who founded ALSAC and later the hospital (pictured above with Paul Ayoub and St. Jude patients). “His experience and skills will be invaluable to lead our Board at this time. I know his father, who was there from the start of ALSAC and St. Jude to support my father's dream of creating St. Jude, would be proud of him, as we all are."

Ayoub most recently served as Vice-Chair of the ALSAC/St. Jude National Board of Directors and has been a member of the Board since 1992. His term as chair began on July 1. Ayoub’s father, Joseph, was among the original group who helped Danny Thomas start ALSAC and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“The mission of ALSAC and St. Jude is very personal to me, given my family history with this organization and its important mission in the world. I look forward to working with my Board colleagues to ensure that children with pediatric cancer and other diseases can receive critical life-saving care and treatment. I also thank Nutter for fostering a culture of pro bono and community service which not only makes this level of involvement possible but embraces it,” said Ayoub.

Ayoub has thirty years of experience representing clients in the financing and development of commercial real estate projects, and advises clients in the areas of regulatory enforcement and compliance. He also is a member of Nutter Charitable Advisors that advises non-profit clients.

Nutter was founded by Louis D. Brandeis – who later became one of the most distinguished Supreme Court justices of the 20th century – in Boston in 1879. Nutter continues to this day to honor Brandeis’ commitment to social justice through active participation in community service and pro bono representation.
