David Ferrera, a partner in Nutter’s Litigation Department and chair of the firm’s Product Liability practice group, will receive the Denis Maguire Award from the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association. David will be honored on September 13 at MCLE in Boston.

Dedicated to giving back to the community, David provides pro bono legal counsel to low-income, unrepresented tenants on housing court cases in a variety of contexts, including the Eastern Housing Court’s Lawyer for the Day Program, VLP’s Answer & Discovery Clinic, and individual case representations. David has been a member of VLP’s pro bono panel since joining the Massachusetts bar in 1995.

Since 1977, the Volunteer Lawyers Project has marshaled the private bar with opportunities to give equal access to legal representation for the lower-income households of Greater Boston and statewide. VLP’s Denis Maguire Pro Bono Award is given each year in the name of its former treasurer to honor the work of outstanding members of its pro bono panel and to commemorate his commitment to VLP and access to justice through pro bono efforts.
