Print PDFThe Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts (SJC) has appointed William F. Kennedy, co-chair of Nutter’s Government Affairs and Public Policy practice, to serve a four-year term as a member of the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers beginning July 1, 2024.
“I look forward to serving on the Board of Bar Overseers and welcome this opportunity to continue to serve the legal profession in Massachusetts,” said Bill.
The Board of Bar Overseers was established by the Supreme Judicial Court in 1974 as an independent administrative body to investigate and evaluate complaints against attorneys. The Board is comprised of 12 members appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court. Eight members are attorneys and four are public members. The Board, as an administrative tribunal, considers disciplinary charges brought against an attorney by the Office of Bar Counsel. When an attorney is found to have committed misconduct, the Board may impose discipline or make a recommendation of discipline to the Supreme Judicial Court.
Bill represents clients in legislative, fiscal, or regulatory legal or policy matters before federal, state, and municipal government. He is the former chair of the Massachusetts Board of Bar Examiners and has served on the Judicial Nominating Commission. Bill was also an adjunct faculty member at Suffolk University Law School for many years, teaching courses in evidence, professional responsibility, equitable remedies, criminal procedure, and legal writing. He is a member of many civic, business, professional, and charitable organizations.
